Prostate inflammation is the most common disease in men over 40 years of age, only in rare cases second only to heart pathologies.When a person is diagnosed, a natural question arises - where exactly does this disease come from?
The causes of prostatitis in men are numerous;it is almost impossible to state exactly what influenced the development of pathology in a particular patient.However, some factors, such as poor lifestyle and alcohol abuse, significantly increase the risk of developing the disease.
Another feature of the disease is the effect of these causes.Some of them can immediately cause pathology, while others affect the male body for years and only after 40-45 years are detected in the first stage of prostatitis.
In general, all causes of prostatitis are divided depending on the form of the disease.And it can be bacterial or abacterial (regardless of the presence of infection).
Causes of abacterial prostatitis
It is not only the development of infections that leads to the appearance of disease.Pathology can also be caused by:
- irregular structure of the prostate, which leads to compression of the prostate;
- worsening of general blood circulation in the pelvic organs;
- decreased testosterone levels;
- constant injuries to the perineum and too intense physical activity, which leads to muscle strain;
- an unstable sex life, as well as an interrupted sexual relationship;
- too much sexual activity, due to which the body does not recover as it should;
- consumption of cigarettes, alcohol and drugs, which certainly leads to deterioration of potency;
- too little daily activity, which leads to congestion and constipation;
- regular hypothermia, exposure to stress and nervous tension.
Clinical studies confirm that prostatitis often occurs due to poor nutrition, poor quality of food, high content of food additives and flavor enhancers.
Bacterial prostatitis: causes of pathology
Bacterial causes include several factors in the development of the disease:
- too weak immunity, which may be a consequence of improper lifestyle;
- genitourinary diseases of an infectious nature (bacteria move to the prostate from the bladder);
- venereal diseases.Most often characteristic of young people who do not use barrier contraception;
- intestinal diseases.Microorganisms very easily get from the intestine to the prostate, passing "by it".
With age, the causes become more numerous, and the body's defenses weaken, so the disease most often develops after 40-45 years.
The main symptoms of prostatitis in men
There are 3 stages of prostatitis, the first symptoms are noticeable in the initial stage of the disease, and in the second they can no longer be ignored:
- the urination process is disturbed, it becomes more and more frequent, the pressure weakens and the drip discharge syndrome is observed;
- sharp pain begins to appear in the perineum, scrotum and lower abdomen;
- Sexual dysfunction develops, and discomfort occurs during ejaculation.
Acute prostatitis, which requires an immediate response, is characterized by slightly different symptoms:
- an increase in temperature is possible due to the sharp development of inflammatory processes, and fever and chills appear in parallel;
- the pain spreads to the head, muscles, joints and even the lower back;
- in the perineal area there is burning, swelling and increased temperature;
- the perineum is painful or unpleasant to the touch;
- during urination, burning, pain, urine darkens, blood is even visible in it;
- at times when you do not want to go to the toilet, urine may leak from the urethra.
Similar symptoms, but less pronounced, are characteristic of chronic prostatitis.After 40 years, a regular medical examination is necessary, because there is also an asymptomatic form of the pathology.
How to treat different forms of prostatitis?
There are a huge number of methods for treating prostatitis, and not all of them involve major surgery.The earlier the disease is detected, the more gentle treatment regimens are used.
Drug therapy
Antibiotics (bacterial form) are used to treat prostatitis, as well as alpha-blockers, natural substances to strengthen immunity and eliminate inflammation.Medicines that restore blood circulation are also used.There are many drugs, so there will always be those that are suitable for the individual characteristics of a particular man's body.You cannot choose your own medicines at the pharmacy;you should always rely on a doctor's prescription.
Surgical intervention
Radical methods of treatment are used extremely rarely and are more often aimed at eliminating acute prostatitis or an advanced form of the disease:
- transurethral resection - a special instrument is inserted into the urinary canal, which removes part of the prostate and eliminates pressure on the urethra.It is carried out without intervention in the abdominal cavity;
- prostatectomy is an operation through the abdominal cavity aimed at eliminating a very enlarged prostate.
Non-surgical methods
Prostatitis can be treated with other methods.Not all of them are pleasant, but the rehabilitation period after them lasts only a few days, a maximum of 2-3 weeks, and the risk of complications is minimized:
- thermal methods - elimination using high temperatures;
- ultrasound treatment;
- cryodestruction – removal with liquid nitrogen;
- laser therapy – tumor splitting with a laser;
- magnetic methods with laser reinforcement - the use of a magnet and laser to improve blood circulation and quickly restore damaged tissue;
- Balloon urethral dilatation – a catheter with a balloon at the end is inserted into the urethra.
Prostate massage, herbal medicine, reflexology and other methods are also used for treatment.There are even such unusual methods of influence as eliminating the disease with live bees and leeches.And they can be quite effective!
